In an industry dominated by men, Building Advantage saw a need to recognize a woman who exemplifies what it means to work and succeed in construction. As a result, Building Advantage has teamed up with Women in Trades (WIT), an association dedicated to supporting trades women, to put together an awards program to honor a woman in the construction industry. Three women will be honored and one will be awarded the 2011 Building Advantage Woman of the Year. Through the nominees’ efforts, the hope is to encourage other women to seek a career in the trades. Nominees are:
Danielle Hernandez – Laborer
Jennifer Schirack – Ironworker
Kilah Engelke – Cement Finisher
The award ceremony will be held on
Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.
at
WRTP/BIG STEP
3841 W. Wisconsin Avenue

We have gotten a lot of phone calls regarding re-certification of our bargaining units and the deadlines for filing. It is our understanding that bargaining units under the Building Trades will not have to re-certify until those respective collective bargaining agreements expire. Notifications will go out at that time.
